2008 Fall Class Schedule
September
20 &21 Trichromatic Dyeing
Time: Both days 10:00-4:00
Does your mind see the perfect color yarn for a new project—and after hours and hours of searching, maybe even days, you still can’t find it? Ever want to match a yarn to an already existing project—but after hours and hours of searching—even days, you still can’t find it. Want subtle shades of one color but after hours and hours of searching, maybe even days…. Well, you get the picture.
TO THE RESCUE—Trichromatic (triad) dyeing. It is the ideal solution to a very frustrating task. In less time than it takes to do all that searching, you can dye yarn for that perfect shade of color. This class will teach you all the steps you need to know—how to create recipes, how to measure and mix accurate dye stocks and then how to use your recipes for future dyeing projects. Starting with only three colors of dye (red, yellow and blue) and three colors of alpaca yarn (white, grey and fawn), Peggy Doney will take you through the steps of triad dyeing to create 66 colors applied to the three shades of alpaca yarn for a total of 198 beautiful colors. It is fascinating and oh, the joys of all those glorious colors—true eye candy!! You will leave with a notebook filled with recipes, 198 yarn samples, lots of reference materials, and your feet will be firmly planted on the path of dyeing. A word of caution—dyeing is addictive. Cost: $120 plus $20 materials fee. Note: Pregnant and nursing women should not take this class. Register for this class.
